in harmony with nature
yoga & hiking in bad gastein
Bad Gastein is perfect for combining yoga and hiking. The alpine landscape with its waterfalls, high plateaus, and clear mountain trails has been proven to reduce stress and promote mental relaxation. Yoga optimally prepares the body for hiking, improving balance, mobility, and breathing technique. Hiking further deepens the yoga practice through movement in nature, fresh mountain air, and conscious deceleration. It is precisely this symbiosis that makes a yoga retreat in the Alps so effective.
Yoga unfolds its full effect when body and mind are given space to regenerate outside of the mat. The small, exquisite spa area at the cōmodo offers ideal conditions with an indoor pool, sauna, and relaxation areas. Professional massages and treatments complement the offerings and focus specifically on relaxation, regeneration, and the release of tension.
Additional relaxation is guaranteed at the nearby thermal baths in Bad Gastein. The combination of yoga, spa, and thermal water supports muscle regeneration, promotes blood circulation, and deepens the feeling of relaxation.

FAQs – about our retreats
Why is the cōmodo particularly well suited for yoga retreats?
The cōmodo is nestled in the natural surroundings of Bad Gastein. The location is quiet, close to nature, and yet easily accessible. A private yoga room, a small, high-quality spa area, and the opportunity to combine nature, exercise, and relaxation create ideal conditions for retreats. In addition, a separate dining room with its own kitchen is available, which is ideal for retreat groups.
Is a yoga retreat at the cōmodo also suitable for solo travelers?
Yes, absolutely. The open and welcoming areas in the lobby make it easy for our guests to strike up conversations with each other, and it's easy to connect with others in the retreat group. Many guests appreciate this relaxed, convivial atmosphere—even (or especially) those traveling alone.
Are there yoga classes available outside of the retreats?
Yes. You can use the yoga room at the cōmodo even when there are no retreats scheduled. In addition, yoga classes are held twice a week for our hotel guests. You can find the current program on the notice board at the reception desk.
What prior knowledge do I need for a yoga retreat?
Our retreats are generally suitable for different levels – from beginners to advanced practitioners. The exact requirements are described for each retreat.
Can I bring someone with me who is not attending the retreat?
Yes, of course. In this case, we simply charge the standard supplement for double occupancy, which is €30 per night for the additional guest.
